Today was one of those glorious days when I had so much fun that I kept telling myself that I was actually doing the job for which I am paid, honest.
Bach Lunch: At noon on spring and fall Fridays, Lafayette converges on the aptly named Parc Sans Souci to enjoy free music and a boxed lunch. Today the music was provided by Les Frères Michot, three brothers and two sons/nephews. Their three part harmony is fabulous, as is their feel for the old songs. They play pretty well, too. The younger generation, André and Louis Michot, anchor the Lost Bayou Ramblers, whom I heard just last night.
At the Bach Lunch there were a million kids on field trip, including a number of girls from Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and both boys and girls from Evangeline Elementary’s Immersion program. And one precious guitar player, maybe five years old. Adorable.![]()
I took several pictures that will be perfect for the teaching of Francophone culture. And I spent a little time speaking French with seven- and eight-year-olds.
Is there anything better than that?
