I’m so excited. I just decided Sunday night that it falls within my sabbatical goals to attend the Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Weekend. Monday I made the arrangements.
Mainly I’ll be taking guitar classes (along with a dozen or two guitarists) with David Doucet, of BeauSoleil. And there are other classes as well on French in music, on vocals, and on cooking, just to name a few. This will be my first; an Iowa teaching schedule doesn’t line up very well with the weeks and weekends they’ve had in the past.
Everyone tells me that the jams late at night are fabulous, that the food is delicious, that the setting is breathtaking, that this can change your life. The only thing I’m not looking forward to are the bunk beds. And if I get tired enough, that will look awfully good, too. I’m told that I will get very very tired.
